First victim of Peñalolén plane crash buried

A funeral for the police officers will be held at 1:00 PM today.

SANTIAGO.-  Silvia Gómez´ coffin left her home in the neighborhood of Nueva Palena in Peñalolén on its way at the Cordillera Cemetery today where it will be buried by the victim’s family. Dozens of neighbors accompanied the police-escorted procession.


She is the first of the Peñalolén plane crash victims to be buried after her body was released by the Legal Medical Service.


Family members of the woman, who was pronounced dead at 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Posta Central medical facility, had received flowers from the Municipality of Peñalolén as well as from Law Enforcement.


Students from the police training unit also attended her burial.


A funeral will be held this afternoon for the two police officers who had been flying the plane during Wednesday´s accident —  Captain Luciano Castro Adasme and Lieutenant Sebastián Rodríguez Torres. 


Meanwhile, Francisco Allende (one of the passengers on the plane) will be buried at approximately 4:30 PM.  A funeral will be held for Ramona Espinoza, half an hour later. Espinoza, a cousin of Silvia Gómez, was found underneath the fuselage of the aircraft.
