CURICÓ.- A head-on collision involving two vehicles in the municipality of Romeral (in the Region of Maule) has left two people dead and three people seriously injured.
A thick blanket of fog covering the road to Romeral, as well as the possible intoxication of one of the drivers, may have contributed to the violent accident.
According to information from the El Centro newspaper, one of the victims of the crash was a 17 year-old promising local soccer star, who belonged to the cadet divisions of Curicó Unido.
At kilometer 1.5, near the Cinco Sur Highway, one of the drivers of the vehicles reportedly may have swerved, causing the accident.
The small automobile, being driven by César Valenzuela (and carrying four other passengers) collided head on with a collective taxi being driven by 24 year-old Carlos Sepúlveda Gonzalez. All of those involved were residents of the municipality of Romeral.
