RÍO BUENO.- Traffic resumed at 7 AM this morning on the north-bound side of Route 5 South, after a cave-in was reported at the 890th kilometer of the road yesterday afternoon.
In order to prevent traffic from experiencing significant interruptions, a bypass was “improvised” to force south-bound vehicles to enter the town of Río Bueno, drive along a dirt road, and then come out at the Cocule junction 15 kilometers to the north of Osorno.
The Vice Governor of the Los Ríos Region, Cristian Cayuqueso, stated that road personnel worked all night to reestablish transit and, in order to prevent the cave-in from becoming more extensive, used dry materials to try to repair the area.
