Foxely says FTA with Australia is the most "progressive" that has been signed

Following his visit to Sidney and Canberra, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will travel to New Zealand, where he is scheduled to hold important meetings with the nation’s leaders.

SANTIAGO.- Amid a tour through Oceania, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alejandro Foxely, stated that the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Australia is one of the most important ones the country has signed recently, due to the level of economic progress it represents.


According to Radio Cooperativa, Foxely indicated that the pact “incorporates practically all of the matters that are of interest to Chile, it is the most progressive agreement signed to date for both Australia and us”.


The minister emphasized that the objective of the pact is for the nations to join forces in order to better compete within the Asian market.  “What we have here is a society that can work together, especially to face these gigantic markets in the Asian Pacific”, maintained the head of Foreign Affairs.


Foxely also stressed the fact that the Australian government plans to work with Chile to improve training and development is sectors such as education and wine production.
