Chile drops a spot in the FIFA ranking

Following their defeat by Turkey, the team coached by Marcelo Bielsa lost 26 points in their cumulative total.

SANTIAGO.- Following their defeat at a friendly match against Turkey, Chile dropped a position in the Federation of International Football (FIFA) ranking.


The national squad, led by Marcelo Bielsa, fell to the 40th in world, with 654 points, and 6th place in the South American national team ranking.


"La Roja" lost 26 points after suffering a defeat at the hands of the Turkish national team, who in turn moved up into the FIFA top ten.


Brazil, the Chilean team's next rival during the World Cup qualifying matches, remains in 6th place, despite a 10 point gain.


At the top of the ranking, Spain, the reigning champion of Europe, continues to lead for the third straight month. Another shift in the ranking occurred after Italy, the reigning world champion, passed Germany, knocking them into third place.


Holland is positioned at number 4, very close to Germany, while the last change to the ranking was that of Turkey, which has now moved to 10th place.
