SANTIAGO.- A surgical transplant marathon took place today at the Clínica Dávila medical center in Santiago where three patients arrived at the hospital to receive organs that had been donated by a 57 year old man who died after suffering a stroke.

According to Radio Cooperativa, the recipients of the organs were a man of the same age as the deceased man who underwent a double-coronary bypass surgery and received a double lung transplant; a 62 year-old woman who received a liver; and a 42 year-old man who underwent a kidney transplant last night.

Meanwhile at the Hospital Clínico de la Universidad Católica, 44 year-old Hilda Ramírez continues to wait for a new liver after she was diagnosed with acute hepatitis, making her a national transplant priority.

The woman is currently in a very complicated state of health, as she is unconscious and is receiving ongoing medicinal treatment and has been placed on an artificial ventilator machine.
