Actress Carrie Reeves arrives for the premiere of the Paramount Pictures production "Shooter" last night in Los Angeles. The film starring Mark Wahlberg, Michael Pena, Danny Glover and Kate Mara is an action thriller film of a Marine corps sniper who leaves the service after a mission goes bad.

Springfield, the Oregon one, is on a list of like-named towns competing for the big screen debut of Homer, Bart and the rest of the TV Simpson family this summer. City officials accepted an invitation from 20th Century Fox to compete for the honor of hosting the premier screening of "The Simpsons Movie" in July. Fox has asked 16 Springfields from Oregon to Massachusetts to participate.

Black swan "Petra" welcomes her "partner", a swan-shaped pedal boat at a small lake at the zoo in Muenster, western Germany. Petra and the local pedal boat were taken from a winter enclosure at the zoo and relocated to the lake today. The swan had bonded with the giant plastic swan when she saw the boat on the lake in downtown Muenster in the summer of 2006.
