Even though singer Mariah Carey has a new fragrance, she never was the type to spray on a scent before she left the house. In fact, Carey says she never really wore perfumes until she fell in love with her own creation, "M". "Honestly... this is the first fragrance that I wear", Carey told the AP in an interview.

A man looks at a replica of a Maya Codex, one of the four pre-Columbian Maya Codices in existence, at the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology in Guatemala City. The replica of the original document, known as the "Dresden Codex" and that is kept at the state libary in Dresden since 1739, was given to Guatemala by the German government last month.

The European court of Justice today ruled against the 40 year old "Volkwagen Law", allowing Porsche to exercise voting rights in line with its 31% stake in VW and raising the chances of a takeover bid. Porsche welcomed the judgment in a short statement which quoted chief executive Wendelin Wiedeking as saying: "With a little more than 30% in VW, we are naturally interested in fully exercising our voting rights".

Mohammed Atif Siddique, a Scottish student, described by prosecutors as a "wannabe suicide bomber", was jailed for 8 years today for possessing terrorism-related materials including bomb-making instructions.
