SANTIAGO.- Reports from Spain stated yesterday that Mathias Vidangossy will not be staying with Almería. During his time on the team, Vidangossy never left the bench during a first-tier game and was rarely called upon to play.
Nevertheless, club Cádiz expressed interest today in adding the Chilean player to their team. The Cádiz team is in the second division of Spanish soccer where Vidangossy (a former Unión Española player) could replace the position being left by Lucas Lobos.
The interest in Vidangossy is nothing new. The Spanish sports periodical "Marca" reads, "former Athletic Director Alberto Benito was blown away by his performance at the last Sub-20 World Cup in Canada, but Villarreal was first to approach Cádiz and signed him on after paying 800,000 euros to club Unión Española de Chile".
The club even struck a deal with Villarreal so that Vidangossy could play for Cádiz this season. This was held up however, after the club was sold and Vidangossy ended up in Almería alongside Benito.
Cádiz is not the only team that seems to be interested. Club Eliche has also approached club Villarreal hoping to acquire Vidangossy.
