SANTIAGO. -  The ATP rankings have been disappointing for Chilean players during the last few weeks.

Slips in the ranking suffered by top national player, Fernándo González, who was dropped from the top ten, and Nicolás Massú, who plunged to near 100th place, offered a grim start to the season for the two Chilean players.

Today’s news was a bit on the brighter side after Chile’s number one tennis player was able to keep his ranking at number 16 in the ATP, while Nicolás Massú, Paul Capdeville and Adrián García attained slight rebounds.

Massú climbed three positions to number 94 in the world ranking before debuting in Costa do Sauipe.  Capdeville has moved up one slot, placing at number 105 before playing in Delray Beach Monday against local Florida athlete Clint Bowles (no. 1,401).

Meanwhile, Adrián García managed to advance three places, putting him at position number 210.

No changes were registered among the top ten players, as Roger Federer continues in first place.
