"Miguelito" detained again: this time for assault of a truck distributing soft drinks

SANTIAGO. - "Miguelito" is still at it.  Now, just one day after being set free by the courts following a death threat to his girlfriend, the 14 year old minor, along with two other teenagers, has been detained by police for the robbery and assault of a soft drink distributor truck. The three of them had made off with 200,000 pesos and a cellular telephone.

The adolescent was captured Wednesday afternoon by law enforcement officials who were patrolling the sector of Américo Vespucio and Guanaco in the neighborhood of Recoleta. The officers had been searching for three suspects linked to the armed robbery of a cargo truck.

The minor and his co-conspirators M.J.P.M (14) and B.M.T.V (16) assailed the distributor truck when the driver, Alex Flores Montecinos (29), stopped to make a delivery.

This makes for the seventeenth detention of “Miguelito” and the fourth since he turned 14 last December, at which point he could be legally charged under the new Juvenile Penal Law.
