SANTIAGO. - FIFA referee Rubén Selman plainly acknowledges that, the union is currentluy indignant with the National Professional Soccer Association (ANFP). The organization owes referees back payments from January.
Although it is not the first time that this has happened under the administration of ANFP Chairman Harold Mayne-Nicholls, Selman clarified that “there was a lack of communication between Harold and the other officials. From what I know he was never really brought up to date with the situation, but knowing him, I don’t think that this will be drawn out, I think that everything will be cleared up”.
According to the arbiter, “we have never had any problems with Harold, to the contrary, he has always been very supportive and helpful, what I do see, however, is that there is a lot of bureaucracy within the ANFP”.
Selman explained that the president of the ANFP is now informed of the situation and that he should be able to solve the problem by this afternoon. “We are going to meet at around 1:00pm with Harold to clear up the debt and put an end to this unfortunate situation”.
