Child dies in house fire in Lo Prado

SANTIAGO.-  A six-year old girl, identified as Noelia Ibarra, perished in a fire at her home in Lo Prado, where she lived with her parents.

The little girl was found in one of the bedrooms of the house, located at 5800 Pasaje Pedro Chaura.

The fire reportedly began in the kitchen of the residence, where a total of 12 people had been living.  Firefighters faced a nearly impossible task after arriving at the scene of the inferno. 

“It is a two-story house where approximately 5 families had been living and it contained many flammable items.  The blaze spread rapidly, killing the girl.  We believe the fire began in the kitchen, located in the back part of the house”, firefighter Captain Carlos Rojas told Radio Cooperativa.
