SANTIAGO.- The Episcopal Conference, represented by its president, Monsignor Alejandro Goic, has made a call to the faithful to “devotedly pray for sufficient amounts of mild rainfall”, inviting members to “reflect upon the conservation of water and other natural resources”.
The declaration, issued by the Permanent Committee of the Episcopal Conference of Chile, was titled “We ask for rainfall from the God of life” and has been signed by Monsignor Goic, the bishop of Rancagua.
The Church has also declared its support for the country’s energy conservation project: “We would like parishes and other Catholic institutions to generously adhere to this campaign”.
Monsignor Goic has asked all of the dioceses throughout the country to say a special prayer, during mass as well as during personal religious practices, for sufficient amounts of water this year.
