Bachelet supports Provoste, calling for “rational” politics

SANTIAGO. -  President Michelle Bachelet has once again demonstrated her support for Minister of Education Yasna Provoste, insisting upon a “rational” policy aimed at solving citizens´ problems rather than getting caught up in accusations to gain votes.

Escorted by the Minister of Education, who accompanied her while on a visit to the nursery at the Juanita Fernández Solar de Recoleta public school, the President said that in order to have better opportunities, “the best option is have a responsible, down to earth policy that does more than just go around accusing people of problems in hopes of swaying votes, but rather one that is devoted to finding a solution to the real problems facing men, women and children in Chile”.

Minister Provoste seemed satisfied by the course of the legal proceedings at the Metropolitain Seremi in the case of financial irregularities detected in the distribution of school subsidies.  Three individuals were arrested yesterday and charged with 180 million pesos worth of fraudulent payments.
