Representative Quintana says he will not vote in favor of charges against Provoste

SANTIAGO.- After expressing doubts concerning the pending constitutional charges against Minister Yasna Provoste, PPD representative Jaime Quintana –who is a member of the commission designated to study the charges— has said that testimony from the last two witnesses has convinced him to reject the accusations being filed by the Alianza.

“Given the testimony of the sub secretary of Education Cristián Martinez (and I can assume he is not acting in bad faith), I cannot support a charge that could clearly disintegrate completely over the next few days” said Quintana.  During his testimony, Cristián Martinez affirmed that of the one billion eight hundred and sixty thousand pesos, equivalent to the total of the metropolitan Seremi bills between 2004 and 2006, 97.7% were backed by documents.

In Quintana´s opinion, the information is transcendental and “if approved by the Comptroller’s Office during the next few days, it will change the course of events”.
