VALPARAÍSO. - PPD Deputy Adriana Muñoz expressed her discontent over the ruling issued by the Constitutional Tribunal (CT) concerning the “day-after” pill and asserted that the Concertación members of Parliament will not rest until the ruling prohibiting the pill’s distribution by public services is revoked.
“The women of the Concertación will not rest until this ruling is revoked. Mr. Raúl Bertelsen, one of the members of the CT, should have withdrawn his vote due to the fact that he had already publicly published a document revealing his opinion on the matter, stating that the pill was a type of abortion (...) The ruling is invalid”, said Muñoz.
Muñoz asserted that they will not allow a “moral and ethical dictatorship” to be imposed by the nine ministers who form part of the Constitutional Tribunal, and that the issue will undergo international appeals.
“If there are superpowers in Chile such as the Constitutional Tribunal, where nine gentlemen have more authority than the President, the Justice Courts and the Parliament, then we will just have to appeal to international authorities”, she stated.
