SANTIAGO.- The Chilean Central Back has purchased $50 million USD during the second day of competitive bidding in a plan to acquire a total of $8 billion dollars in reserves over the course of the rest of the year.
The Central Bank purchased the amount at an average price of 450.15 pesos per dollar, with a maximum price of 450.30 pesos and a minimum price of 450.00 pesos per dollar.
The financial entity received offers for 81 million dollars.
Last week, the Central Bank Council decided to intervene in the exchange market in order to strengthen the international liquidity of the Chilean economy in the midst of the current credit crisis in the United States.
