Restaurant owner arrested in Providencia for credit card cloning

Alejandro Vannisarras, owner of the Da Vinci eatery in the Suecia neighborhood, and Francis Ossandón allegedly had been conducting close to 200 million pesos worth of fraud within the eastern and southern parts of the capital city.

SANTIAGO.- OS-9 police officers have arrested the two leaders of a crew of credit card cloners who reportedly committed approximately 200 million pesos worth of fraud within the eastern and southern sectors of the capital city.


27 year-old Alejandro Vannisarras, co-owner of the Da Vinci restaurant located on General Holley Street in the Suecia neighborhood of Providencia, and 43 year-old Francis Ossandón were both detained by police on charges of cloning credit cards.


The police investigation lasted four months, but the conmen had been carrying out the illegal operations for more than a year.  The men had been obtaining information from customers in the aforementioned restaurant as well as other places in the south of Santiago, which are still being investigated.


According to police sources, 50 million pesos in fraud have been confirmed, while 12 million have been returned.


Law enforcement also seized firearms, ammunition, 20 credit cards and 100 grams of marijuana.
