SANTIAGO.- At 6:50 AM this morning, a group of students belonging to the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana (UTEM) took over facilities at the institution’s main campus, located on the corner of Dieciocho and Padre Felipe Gómez de Vidurre.
The students placed chains and locks on the campus entrance gate and positioned tables and chairs to block people from entering the area.
The demonstration was organized yesterday after a meeting was held by the presidents of the university’s student centers, where a petition was made to dismiss the dean as well as the university’s high-level educational personnel.
Natalia Monje, the spokesperson for the protest, read a public statement indicating that demonstration is being backed by the entire student body at the university.
