SANTIAGO.- The Association of Chilean Exporters (Asoex) stated today that it is satisfied with the agreement reached between the government and truck drivers to bring and end to the strike.

“(The agreement) will allow for the serious inconveniences caused to the exporting process to be resolved after the situation caused considerable losses, especially in the case of perishable goods”, asserted the president of the association, Ronald Brown.

Nevertheless, Asoex expressed concern about the strike that continues in the port town of San Antonio.

“We continued to be deeply concerned by the events being registered since last weekend in San Antonio, which has kept the port idle, with more than one thousand refrigerated containers trapped inside storage units”, Brown maintained during a press release.

Brown added that the exporters would call on authorities to aid them in their search for a fast solution to the problem.
