SANTIAGO.- The spokesperson for the Assembly of University and High School Students (ACEUS), Amador Sepúlveda, clarified that for now, no national strike is confirmed for this week and stated that if it indeed were to be carried out, it would “essentially” be for educational demands.

Sepúlveda announced that the only planned strike and demonstration is scheduled to occur on August 12th, when the General Education Law (LGE) will be voted on at Congress.  “All municipal schools, private-subsidized schools and universities throughout the country have been summoned to participate on that day”, he declared.

The student leader mentioned that the organization has not organized any demonstrations for this week, since members are saving their energy for the day of the LGE vote.

Regarding the alleged takeovers of public buildings, Sepúlveda said that those have also yet to be confirmed, but indicated that if the takeovers do happen, they will take place either at the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
