SANTIAGO.- A detective belonging to the Criminal Investigation Brigade of Puente Alto died after colliding with a truck this morning while riding his motorcycle. Manuel Lincaqueo was in extremely serious condition with a loss of brain mass after the accident.

According to Agent Gonzalo Muñoz, the on-duty officer at the South Metropolitan Prefecture of the Bureau of Police Investigations (PDI), the incident took place at approximately 5:00 am, when 24 year-old Detective violently collided with the left side of the truck, which was parked at the time.

As a result of the impact, and despite the fact that Lincaqueo was wearing his standard-issue helmet at the time, the young man suffered a loss of brain matter after being thrown from his motorcycle. The detective was later found by some passer-bys who contacted police.

Lincaqueo was taken to the Hospital Sótero del Rio medical facility, but was later transported by helicopter to the Dipreca Hospital, where he died.

According to Agent Muñoz, the young man had been on his way home after leaving the office where he works.
