SANTIAGO.- Deputy Esteban Valenzuela (ex member of ChilePrimero) has spoken out against statements made by Ricardo Lagos, who declared yesterday that presidential candidate Marco Enríquez-Ominami is not properly practicing politics.

Valenzuela (who is on a list of possible campaign employees for the candidate) said that Lagos´ statements “hurt”.

“He does not share Marco’s approach to politics, but he stopped practicing politics properly a long time ago and there are many examples of that, such as when he understated the importance of corruption problems during his administration or when he rejected the primaries”, Valenzuela asserted.

The deputy insisted that “Lagos is wrong to say that the PS deputy is not practicing politics right and that is why I urge him to become a politician that is less arrogant, less supercilious, more grounded and realistic”.

Valenzuela also invited Lagos to have a conversation with Enríquez-Ominami “so that he becomes familiar with the kind of politics he is engaged in, which are focused on strengthening democracy and listening to those that have been scorned by the two parties”.
