"La nana" chosen to compete in Sydney Film Festival

The Chilean movie will be the only representation of Latin America in the Australian event.

SANTIAGO.- The Chilean film "La nana" will continue its international tour before premiering in Chile. Organizers of the Sydney International Film Festival confirmed today that the movie will be amongst the 12 films included in the official competition.


The Australian event, which will take place between June 3rd and June 14th, will feature a strong European presence among the films competing for first prize, with five of the movies hailing from the "Old Continent".


One of the most difficult "rivals" for the Chilean film by Sebastián Silva, who has also been invited to Sydney, will be the latest creation of British director Ken Loach, "Looking for Eric", which will be the first movie to debut at the festival.


"La nana" has already obtained several awards and recognitions in various international festivals including the Sundance, Miami, Cartagena (Colombia), Fryeburg (Switzerland) and Sarasota (U.S.A.). he movie has also been promised a distribution contract in North America through the company Elephant Eye Films.
