SANTIAGO.- At exactly 1:35 PM next Monday, May 25, Los Jaivas will take off on Air France flight 401 en route to Paris, where they will immediately transfer to a flight for Beijing, the city where they are set to participate in the 2009 Arts Festival.
The Beijing Arts Festival is known as a grand event that brings together innumerable bands and musical groups from all over the world, not to mention hundreds of other artistic and cultural expositions from 30 countries.
In representation of Chile, Los Jaivas will play three concerts at distinct venues of the Far East millennium capital. The performances are set for the 28, 29 and 30 of May, in addition to a special honorary show at the Chilean Embassy, an invitation extended personally on the part of Ambassador Fernando Reyes Matta. The group also plans to visit the Forbidden City and the mythical Great Wall of China.
Other exotic destinations on the band's performance record include the Incan city of Macchu-Picchu (1981), Rapa Nui (2006) and the Torres del Paine National Park (2009).
