The crew of the Hawaiian canoe Hokulea arrived at Yokohama port today, completing a 5 month journey of more than 13,600kms (8,500 miles) across the Pacific. The vessel, flying orange and burgundy sails, was met by the sounding of conch shells, hula dancers and a crowd of several hundred people waiting at the port. Ver más.

Th original East Indiaman "Gotheborg" ran aground at the entrance to Goteborg on Sept. 12, 1745, fully laden with tea, porcelain, silk and spices returning from her third voyage to China, and the new Swedish ship "Gotheborg", a reconstruction of the original and one of the largest wooden sailing ships in the world, is currently returning to Sweden after her maiden voyage to China. Ver más.

A helicopter lowers salvage equipment to the deck of the 30,000 tonne bulk coal carrier "Pasha Bulker" which ran aground in the wild seas of Nobbys Beach in Newcastle, north of Sydney. Fears were mounting that the ship would break apart and spill its 700 tonnes of fuel onto the city´s beaches. Ver más.
