SANTIAGO.- PS president, Camilo Escalona, has deemed it "inappropriate" for the UDI to request an explanation "at every opportunity" from the new Government spokesperson, Francisco Vidal, to clarify his role in Chiledeportes and the role he played as Interior Minister when the administration of ex- President Ricardo Lagos designed Transantiago.

After meeting with Vidal at La Moneda, along with the rest of the PS leaders, senator Escalona expressed his strong rejection of the unionist initiative.

"It seems like a hurried decision made by people who are looking for something to spend their time on, since it isn't at all legitimate", he stressed.

The Member of Parliament added that the measure "strongly misinterprets the objective of requesting explanations".

He also said that anything having to do with the investigation of past events related to the Transantiago plan "is presently being taken care of by the Chamber investigation commission".

"That is why it is not only inappropriate, but also completely infringes upon the parliamentary action", he maintained.
