SANTIAGO.- Secretary General to the Presidency, José Antonio Viera Gallo emphatically defended ex President Ricardo Lagos today, pointing out that  "Chile's repayment" is to constantly criticize him for his role in Transantiago, which in Viera-Gallo's opinion is just "one mistake" in a "great administration".

"I absolutely disagree with the campaign that has been organized to destroy President Lagos' reputation, it seems completely absurd to me and I can't see the reason for it", he said during an interview with Agricultura Radio Station.

The minister stated that the constant interrogations of the ex President do not correspond to the "very good government administration" of Lagos, marked by the "modernization and progress of the country".

According to Viera-Gallo, the goal of the attacks is to prevent Lagos from eventually returning to La Moneda.

The state secretary said that there is no such thing as a perfect government that does everything 100% correctly, "but if I had to give a grade to President Lagos' administration, I would definitely give it something close to a 90%".
