LONDON.- Copper closed with a strong hike today at the London Metal Exchange (LME) after trading for $ 3.22323 U.S. dollars per pound of "grade A", compared to $ 3.13682 U.S. dollars on Monday and $ 3.17084 U.S. dollars on Friday.
As a result, the monthly and yearly averages both climbed to $ 3.12462 U.S. dollars.
Today's value is the highest for copper since November 8th, 2007, when it traded for $ 3.27585 U.S. dollars.
The future-3-month price ended at $ 3.23888 U.S. dollars per pound, up 2.73% from Monday ($ 3.15269 U.S. dollars).
At the LME, stocks decreased by 25 metric tons, to 200,975. So far this year, an overall increase of 3,525 MT (+1.79%) has been accumulated.
