SANTIAGO. - The President spoke today to stand up for her past and future undertakings as the country’s leader. This comes on the same day that an article appeared in The Economist magazine critiquing Bachelet’s third change to her presidential ministry on Tuesday.
Despite the criticism from various sectors, Bachelet maintained that “governing is a complicated job, but it is also truly beautiful”. She also referred to the speech she made to the mayor’s council yesterday at La Moneda, in which she urged them to work to make resources finally reach those who need them the most, so that the “second half” of her administration may be marked by the “fruits” of her labors.
“We see 2008 as a fruitful year, (when) all our policies will be employed at full magnitude, many of which began in 2006”, said the President.
Bachelet also explained that, in order to attain objectives, “designs will materialize into projects, blueprints will become homes, neighborhoods, hospitals and doctor’s offices and words will turn into concrete solutions for the people”.
