LONDON.- Copper closed today with a 2.29% increase at the London Metal Exchange (LME) after trading for $ 3.33889 U.S. dollars per pound of "grade A", compared to $ 3.26405 U.S. dollars on Friday and $ 3.22981 U.S. dollars on Thursday.
As a result, the monthly and yearly averages climbed to $ 3.19891 U.S. dollars. Today's value is the highest for the red metal since November 7th of 2007when it traded for $ 3.37972 U.S. dollars.
The future-3-month price ended at $ 3.35228 U.S. dollars per pound, up 2.36% from Friday ($ 3.27494 U.S. dollars).
At the LME, stocks decreased by 675 metric tons, to 198, 600. So far this year, an overall increase of 1,150 MT (+0.58%) has been accumulated.
