SANTIAGO.- Jorge Godoy, chief of the Sótero del Rio Hospital Critical Patient Unit, stated that no bullets or metal shards have been found in the head of the 15 year-old minor with the initials P.R.H., who was attacked in Puente Alto last night along with his brother.
According to Godoy, the teenager has a fractured skull, a cerebral hematoma and injuries to the right side of his head. Nevertheless, no metal objects were found during an operation that was performed on the young man. Officials must now investigate to determine the type of weapon that was used in the attack.
Godoy stated that the minor arrived at the medical center at 10:09 PM yesterday and remained in the operating room until 2:15 AM today. The adolescent has been submitted to a CAT scan and blood tests. The pressure caused by the hematoma in the brain has been relieved.
"The patient's condition is very serious and he could lose his life, or end up with brain damage. He is in critical condition and will need to be observed over the next 72 hours", he said.
The father of the two minors found out about the attack at 9:00 PM yesterday after finding his oldest son seated on a couch with an injury on right side of his head. His brother had been killed by an injury to the back of his neck, made by what appeared to have been a bullet.
