SANTIAGO.- President Michelle Bachelet said today that it is entirely normal for her to call on Cristián Barros to share information. Bachelet also indicated that Barros will be part of the State Department's team of advisors who will address the lawsuit filed by Peru at the International Court at The Hague.
While visiting Punta Arenas, Bachelet stated that "in this type of situation, there is always a need to call on the country's ambassador to report any elements that he himself may have officially received from the Peruvian government".
Bachelet added that Ambassador Barros will work with a group of advisors to the State Department to confront the Peruvian maritime boundary dispute.
The President insisted that, thesummoning of Barros (who arrived in Santiago this morning) is "something normal, natural and appropriate".
