Construction businessman murders his wife and son in Calera de Tango

SANTIAGO.- Angered by the food he had been served at his home and by a high bill for digital television service, construction company businessman Julio Norambuena Ferrada began to argue with his wife. The altercation ended in the murder of the woman and her 15 year-old son.

The incident occurred at the home of Norambuena Ferrada, located in the San Luis condominium complex in the Municipality of Calera de Tango.

After committing the crime, the 43 year old businessman tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head. He is currently hospitalized at the Barros Luco Hospital and is diagnosed as brain dead.

Public Attorney Pamela Torres announced additional details of the crime: "It began with a spousal argument. The (wife) indicated that she was going to take her five children and leave the home and this led to another fight", explained Torres.

According to statements made by Ferrada, it was then that he took his gun and shot his wife and then his son, who was trying to call the police.
