Condition of girl wounded in Puente Alto shooting improves

SANTIAGO.- After suffering a gunshot wound during a neighborhood altercation in the municipality of Puente Alto, the medical diagnosis for 5 year-old Alejandra P.G. has improved considerably.

The little girl had been shot in the torso. According to the medical report released by the Sótero del Río Hospital however, the bullet did not come into contact with any vital organs, and caused only minor kidney and intestinal damage.

Pamela Cuevas, another person who was wounded during the incident, is currently in critical condition after suffering spinal damage.

According to witnesses, the incident began after a neighbor angrily confronted Gastón Ibacache concerning a snake from his property that had made its way onto the man's garden. Ibacache responded to the neighbor's complaint by firing back with a dozen shots.
