SANTIAGO. -  With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the website Trabajando.com decided to conduct a unique survey to determine just how common office romances are throughout the country.

According to the results, 38.1% of Chileans have been involved in an emotional relationship with someone from their office, although many are forced to hide this type of connection in order to keep their jobs.

Surprisingly, 61% of the people polled indicated that they had never had an office love affair.  This figure runs completely contrary to last year’s, which attested that 48% had indeed been involved in a romantic relationship with a coworker.

Among those who had never engaged in a workplace liaison, 34.5% said that they would never partake in such a relationship, while 27.4% said that they would not be against having one should the occasion arise.

Within the group that acknowledged having taken a workplace relationship to the next level, 26.2% said that they have continued their office romance, but kept it concealed.
