Copper soars, closing at its highest value to date this year

The red metal was priced at $ 3.45275 U.S. dollars per pound of "grade A" after registering a 3.57% increase.

LONDON.- Copper closed today with a 3.57% hike at the London Metal Exchange (LME) after trading for $ 3.45275 U.S. dollars per pound of "grade A", compared to $ 3.33390 U.S. dollars on Thursday and $3.25725 U.S. dollars on Wednesday.


As a result, the monthly average reached $ 3.32521 U.S. dollars, while the yearly average climbed to $ 3.22905 U.S. dollars.


The future-3-month price ended at $ 3.42916 U.S. dollars per pound, up 2.27% compared to Wednesday ($ 3.33844 U.S. dollars).


At the LME, stocks decreased by 2,725 metric tons, to 166,750. So far this year, an overall drop of 30,700 MT (-15.55%) has been registered.
