BUENOS AIRES. -  Minister of Planning Julio De Vido stated yesterday that water contained in the electric reservoirs within the region of Comahue “will allow for a calmer winter”.

“The winter is going to be much more organized than last year and there will definitely be more energy available because we are going to add 1,000 megawatts when consumption in Argentina reaches 17,800 megawatts”, explained De Vido.

The minister said that his area has arranged for “more responsible usage of water” from the different reservoirs and dikes and said that this reserve “will allow us to face the winter more calmly”.

“In addition to this, we will be inaugurating the first open cycle at the Campana power station made up of two power stations on the bank of the Paraná River, with a combined output of 1,600 megawatts”, said De Vido.

The minister also indicated that economic growth is not threatened by a lack of energy.  “We are going to be in good condition. With all of its economic growth, Argentina requires 1,000 megawatts per year and this year we are going to be 1000 megawatts above this figure”.
