SANTIAGO.-  After a challenging 0-1 win over San Martín de Porres in Perú at the Libertadores de América tournament, the Universidad Católica is immediately returning to Chile.  The team has little time to rest, as they must now begin preparing for their classic match this Sunday against Colo Colo.

The team, coached by Fernando Carvallo has earned the first three points for a Chilean team during the 2008 continental tournament — and although their performance was not at its best, the win was highly valued by the team.

“We scored the goal and we won, it doesn’t matter who played better or worse or who put forth the effort, here the goals are what matter, we scored and we won”, said forward-player Luis Núñez.

Rodrigo Valenzuela had a similar opinion.  “Maybe we didn’t play as well as we did at the last match, but we took control of the game and didn’t have any major problems.  The three points are what is important and it is great to have won them as a visiting team”.

The Universidad Católica team is now on its way back to Chile, surely contemplating this Sunday’s match against Colo Colo at 6:30 PM at the Monumental Stadium.
