VALPARAÍSO. -  President Michelle Bachelet demonstrated her unyielding support this morning for the Minister of Education, Yasna Provoste following the minister’s appearance yesterday before the branch commission at the House of Deputies. Just hours from now, the Alianza is expected to file constitutional charges against Minister Provoste for her political responsibility in the case of financial irregularities detected by the Comptroller’s Office concerning the issuance of school subsidies.

“I want to tell you all that I regret the fact that problems have arisen regarding the distribution of educational subsidies in the Metropolitan Region, and that I think that the minister has been very straightforward”, stated the President.

President Bachelet also took the opportunity to defend the way her administration has dealt with educational matters, saying, “the only thing that matters here is knowing that the resources that have been allocated have, indeed, been used appropriately as school subsidies, allowing for adequate resource distribution so that various institutions can make progress”.
