RANCAGUA. -  Once again, subcontracted worker organizations from the El Teniente Division are protesting at different points inside the copper-mining facility.

According to preliminary reports, the subcontracted workers had launched a new attempt to take over the tunnel connecting access points between Coronel Alto and Sewell, but were stopped from doing so by police.

According to statements released by Codelco, plant employees belonging the shift A at El Teniente were able to access their work stations and operations at the plant, foundry and mine are being carried out as normal – despite the demonstrations.

Buses have been stopped by subcontracted workers and at least 10 have been damaged.

This is the third-straight day of protests put on by subcontracted workers at the copper company.  Yesterday, the demonstration was put on by the Association of Subcontracted Worker Unions (ASIC), while on Tuesday protests were carried out by the CTC (Confederation of Copper Workers), led by Cristián Cuevas — causing production at the El Teniente plant to cease for nine hours.
