SANTIAGO. -  The president of the Independent Democratic Union (UDI) party, Hernán Larrain, expressed his utmost support for Huechuraba mayor Carolina Plaza this morning.  Earlier in the day, Plaza stated that she had been threatened by Joaquín Lavín´s son in law, Isaac Givovich, to have the charges against him dropped.

“If someone has threatened her (Plaza), I think it is disgraceful, because everyone has the right to do it (file charges)”, said the senator.

“We have indicated and I personally have told Carolina Plaza that she has every right to do what she is doing, besides, when the mayor detects a financial misappropriation within their municipality, I believe one is obligated to file all charges accordingly and that is why she knows she can count on our complete support”, he added.

Larraín stated that, for now, disciplinary actions for those involved will not be looked into until the result of the legal proceedings is known.
