SANTIAGO.- The Chilevisión T.V. station experienced a tense morning today after the private channel received a bomb threat.

An anonymous phone call made by a man from a public phone booth was received just after 6:00 AM this morning.   The speaker indicated the presence of an explosive device at the facilities of the channel owned by Sebastián Piñera.

Special Police Operations (GOPE) officers arrived just after 7:00 AM and searched the T.V. station for approximately an hour before determining the incident to be a false alarm.

According to detailed report released by the channel, Jaime de Aguirre, the Director of Chilevisión, arrived at the station and thanked police for their efforts.

During a conversation with Radio Duna, De Aguirre had said that the person who made the phone call claimed to be protesting the channel’s programming.

Police evacuated all personnel from the television station and cut off all traffic on Inés Matte Urrejola Street, between Francisco Puelma and Los Pinos.
