SANTIAGO.- Chief of Police, General José Alejandro Bernales, has deemed the bombing of a BCI Bank located on the corner of Antonio Varas and 11 de Septiembre as   “alarming”, and said that bomb-threats being made to various buildings in the capital city are being closely monitored.

The explosion at the bank has been attributed to an anarchist group. Concerning the battle against such factions, Bernales stated that they are being fought “with all weapons permitted to us by the law, as well as with legislation and intelligence operations.   We are worried about the attacks possibly becoming violent and what we need to do now is capture those responsible”.

In response to the criminal faction’s labeling of law-enforcement as “enemies”, General Bernales said that it was unfortunate, “but I think that the country knows that we are nobody’s enemies.   The person making these types of phone calls is doing so because he knows we are going to arrest him”.
