SANTIAGO.-  The Second Santiago Court of Appeals issued a unanimous ruling today to revoke the decision made by the seventh penalty court on February 22nd of this year to instate a definitive stay of proceedings in the million-dollar “magic cheese” fraud case of Gilbert Van Erpe, better known as “Madame Gil”.

The court, which consisted of justices Juan Manuel Muñoz, Patricio Villarroel and Manuel Valderrama, decided that the woman shall have a temporary stay of proceedings until she is called upon to appear in court.

The decision gives the go ahead for the current investigation being carried out in France to continue, given the fact that investigation began due to lawsuits that were filed in Chile.

The ruling of the second court pleased prosecutors Victor Vidal, Alfredo Morgado and Raúl Meza, who are representing the numerous victims of the fraud case.
