Police investigate violent apartment robbery in Peñalolén

Three individuals armed with broken bottlenecks entered the home early this morning after using lock picks to enter the residence, located in the Naciones Unidas neighborhood of Peñalolén.

SANTIAGO.-  Officers belonging to the 43rd Peñalolén Police Department, along with the East Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office, are investigating a violent robbery carried out early this morning at a home located in the Naciones Unidas neighborhood of the municipality. 


The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 AM when, according to initial reports, three individuals armed with broken-off bottlenecks used lock picks to gain entrance the apartment of 48 year-old Margarita Pinto Ahumada, located on the 34th block of 132nd Street. 


According to one of the 6 victims in the apartment at the time, once inside, the intruders roused the family, threatened them with the bottlenecks and then locked them in one of the bathrooms while they ransacked the home.


The assailants stole jewelry belonging to the homeowner and then fled the scene.  Police are still trying to locate the suspects and are investigating the motive for the break-in.
