SANTIAGO.-  The Santiago Metropolitan intendant, Álvaro Erazo, has stated  that the use of judicial measures will be evaluated  against Transantiago drivers who took over two transport terminals in Puente Alto and Maipú this morning, damaging buses and impeding transportation services.

In addition, Erazo warned, “we are going to be very strict about applying appropriate measures”.

The city director stated that, according to police reports, tires on some of the public transport vehicles had been slashed.

Erazo justified the actions of Special Police Forces who cleared out the area, stating, “they acted just as the always do, with absolute professionalism and it was completely justifiable because, I reiterate, this is not just any service, it is a public service, buses were not able to leave the terminal and there was damage being done to property”.
