SANTIAGO.-  Following Senator Camilo Escalona´s fierce attack on those who are questioning his leadership of the Socialist Party, representative Isabel Allende has said that she does not understand why Escalona would want to invent a “false dilemma” – calling his statements “an insult to the intelligence of Socialist Party members”.

“I strongly regret the fact that a party president is acting so foolishly as to argue that a minority group, or dissidents as he calls us, are showing a lack of trust and discouragement- and that he is doing it as a way to justify his fifth campaign”.

Previously, Escalona had stated that the dissenters do not understand the changes being imposed by the Government and accused the group of “being ignorant about what we are and what we have done”.

Allende called Escalona “irresponsible” for stating that the minority of the Socialist Party (PS) does not support President Bachelet, “when we have shown the utmost loyalty”.
