SANTIAGO.- President Michelle Bachelet presided over the launching of a flu-vaccination campaign today at the Lo Prado Family Health Center.
The vaccination will be offered free of cost in doctors offices throughout the country until April 30th for children between 6 and 23 months of age, senior citizens over the age of 60 and pregnant women at or beyond their 13th week of gestation.
The President took the opportunity to make a call for people to take advantage of the benefit. “I would really like to call all those who qualify for this benefit and who are able to reach a doctor’s office to take advantage of the free vaccination”, she stated.
“It is a public benefit you have a right to and we want to guarantee it and we ask you to take advantage of it, we have 30 days to protect ourselves and our families”, said Bachelet.
According to Radio Cooperativa, those who wish to get the vaccination but do not belong to the group designated to receive it free of charge can obtain the immunization at pharmacies for a cost of approximately five thousand pesos.
